About Us
Humanity Effect was founded in 2023 to support vulnerable children in Makoko, a floating fishing community in Lagos, Nigeria. Over the following three years, the organization built two schools, an orphanage, and a medical center. Together, these programs provided education, housing, healthcare, and daily support to more than 1,000 children.
In 2026, much of Makoko was destroyed during a large-scale "urban redevelopment campaign", resulting in the demolition of Humanity Effect’s facilities and the displacement of many of the children and families the organization served.
Following these events, Humanity Effect entered a new chapter. Today, the organization operates an orphanage program in Lagos in partnership with a local nonprofit, providing vulnerable children with safe housing, quality education, compassionate care, and life-skills development.
While the programs have evolved, the mission remains unchanged: to ensure every child has a safe place to learn, grow, and dream, regardless of the circumstances they face.
